this is a conversation with a recent client. names have been changed for their protection.

b: conference services this is me.
dude: hi me, i have been working with big boss lady on a conference in the very distant future.
b: ok, great. let me look you up...oh yes, here you are. how can i help you?
dude: well i would like to rent all the classrooms in this building & that building.
b: ok, great. unfortunately, you cannot rent all the classrooms as we hosting classes in those buildings. do you know exactly how many you need?
dude: i'm sorry, you host classes? like classes classes?
b: um, yes. classes classes. we can reserve some of the classrooms for you, just not all.
dude: well, hmph! how much to rent a carpet?
b: excuse me, a carpet?
dude: yes. a carpet?
b: for in the classrooms? some of them already have carpet.
dude: well how much to rent a carpet?

this is an actual conversation. i am still slightly confused as to what said person meant by renting a carpet. like a magic carpet? a carpet sample? a piece of carpeted area in the classrooms he so desires? still tbd. some people are just plain old crazy.
