easter. finally.

happy easter everyone! ok, i know easter was a few weekends ago but it took me a little while to pull myself together enough to blog about the big day. so as you all may recall, this was my first venture into making a holiday meal all by myself. now that is a little bit of pressure - i mean who wants to be responsible for the family food poisoning? not i. luckily, that did not happen. yes i was also the easter bunny's assistant. can you tell from the basket she left us? oh ok, sorry...back to the dinner. on the menu:

deviled eggs. i know, i got a little aggressive with the paprika on a few of them. go ahead, ignore those one. unless you're spicy (like me - i'm pretty spicy!), then it's right up your alley.

corn casserole situation. i like to think of it actually as a souffle as opposed to  a casserole. makes the meal a little less minnesota & you know how un-minnesota i am. er, what?

there were also mashed potatoes but those were hi-jacked by the dad. good work, dad...way to steal my thunder! just kidding...juuuussssttt kiiddddiiinnng :)

the real pressure was on the ham. there was much controversy on how long to cook it. according to what you find online? what you find on the ham directions? good gravy (there was no gravy)! what's a girl to do?! try halfway in between both. the ham was covered in a honey-whiskey sauce. yep, i said it...whiskey people.

yep, i meant business. please ignore the bird angel woman. she crashed my photo. stupid bird lady!

i would like to thank dad for stealing my potato thunder (just kidding!) & my wonderful sous chef, lola. see what a big help she was? the real victory is that all the menu items made it to the dinner table, much to my assistants chagrin.

the goodness on the table was no match the the goodness around the table. mushie, i know, but my favorite part of easter dinner was sharing it with my lovely family. they are way better than yours. sorry to break your heart but they are totally the best.

the best things in the world.

i would also like to add puppy snuggles, bonfires on school nights, fresh sheets, slightly undercooked cookies made with Sunshine & reese's peanut butter cups.. thank you for your consideration.

it's coming.

don't worry! i was able to capture every moment (ok, ok that was an exaggeration - not EVERY moment) of my first venture into holiday meal making. until then, this will just have to tide you over.

happy wednesday!
