it's finally here! well, not quite but i'm getting excited! this is my chance to show my friends how cool my halftime home is when they visit for the bit triathalon, the trinona. er, how awesome the liquor bowl is, which i embarrassingly learned in a meeting is not the actual name of the bowling establishment. here's my sad tale...
so here i am in a meeting, being very professional, with the marketing & communications vp. we are very business-like talking about billboards, street signs and lightpole banners for my big to-do in a year. as he is describing to me the location of the specific billboard he is thinking, the conversation below ensues...
vp: so i was thinking, we should really acquire the billboard on the way up hwy 14
b: which one?
vp: the one that is right at the base of the hill just before the footbridge to campus
b (with confidence): oh, the one that is right by the liquor bowl or the one that is closer to the ground round?
vp: i'm sorry...where?
b (face starting to burn): um, you know...the liquor bowl? right on hwy 14?
vp (slightly perplexed & judgey): oh. you mean the winona bowl?
b (face reaching new level of red): yes, that is what i meant to say
vp: the liquor bowl huh? why do you call it that?
b (magma burning hot face): well, i mean..uh...the sign outside on the street says "liquor bowl"
vp (judgey stare): gee, i've never noticed.
needless to say, after that meeting, i crawled under my desk & tried to die. obvi it didn't work since i am retelling the story & reliving the awkwardness of the moment. nice one, b. nice.
