cheeseball alert!

ok, sorry guys but i'm totally going to be cheesy for a minute. be warned & i won't be offended if you don't continue reading. actually, i will have no idea because i'm not with you while you read this. that would be creepy. yesterday i was feeling pretty bad for myself. i was all boo-hoo-hoo-y because the typhoid, yellow fever, polio, menangitis and hepatitis a combo was making me feel not so good. then i had to go back to the nona for an event when all i wanted to do was lay on my couch, watch a movie & succomb to the sore arms, pounding head & tummy ache.

as the event progressed, i had the pleasure of sitting with 2 benefactors of the university. they were absolutely delightful! mr. benefactor was very excited to tell me all about his time at saint mary's - it was awesome! - as well as his upcoming 52 year wedding anniversary in 11 days - he's still not sure how he got so lucky. the program began & it was time for our president to take the mic. now he has a tendency to ramble but is always able to circle back. he spent the first portion of his time talking about how we all need to slow down, take time to pause & appreciate all the beauty around us. every day we take for granted the simple beauty that surrounds us. then he was silent...for a little longer than normal...deep breath...he informed us that earlier in the evening a student had died unexpectedly in her dorm room. he then lead us in prayer. then reminded us that we are blessed.

truer words have never been spoken. i am so blessed - i have a loving family, the most wonderful friends, a job that drives me totally bananas sometimes but allows me to do something i love. i want for nothing. life is short - please take a minute to appreciate all that you have.
